Curaçao is a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and on 27 April you notice it. King’s Day is celebrated here too — with music, markets and orange in the streets, but at thirty degrees and with a Caribbean twist.

For Dutch guests it is a curiously familiar-yet-different occasion: the same public holiday, an entirely different atmosphere.
