White sand, calm water, and a boulevard of restaurants and shops — a few minutes’ walk from the villa. No car needed for a day at the beach.
What Mambo Beach actually is
Mambo Beach isn’t a single small beach — it’s a whole stretch. A groomed sand beach with calm, shallow water, backed by Mambo Beach Boulevard: a promenade of beach clubs, restaurants, boutiques, and terraces, all in a row. Park once, or just walk over from the villa.
The water here is calm and clear, with no surf. For children that’s easier going than the wilder coves on the west side of the island. Parts of the beach are free to access; at the beach clubs you’ll pay an entrance fee or rent a bed with an umbrella.
A day without car keys
This is where the location pays off. You walk to the beach in the morning while it’s still quiet, come back midday for the pool when the sun is at its hottest, and head back out to the boulevard for dinner. No hunting for parking, no reserving loungers, no debate about who isn’t drinking tonight.
For families that matters more than you’d expect. Children who’ve had enough of the beach are home in five minutes, and nobody else has to leave with them.
With children
- Sea Aquarium — a few minutes on foot. Animals up close, shows through the day, and a good solution for a day when the beach isn’t working.
- Calm water — no waves and a gradual entry, so you can relax a little more than at the west-coast coves.
- Padel courts — right next to the resort, usually bookable at short notice.
- Shops on the boulevard — enough to solve a forgotten swimsuit, sunscreen, or armbands without getting in the car.
- Water sports — snorkeling, diving, paddleboarding, and kayaking run from the beach, plus boat trips to Klein Curaçao and along the west coast.

Over the years we’ve kept two lists in Google Maps: our favorite beaches, and the places we think are worth your time. Not a top ten from the internet — just where we actually go. Open them straight in Maps and take them with you.
Eating on the boulevard
The range runs from pizza and beach food to steak, seafood, and Mexican, nearly all of it on the same promenade. Most places are open for lunch during the day; in high season it’s worth reserving for dinner.
If you’d rather cook: the villa has a fully equipped kitchen, and with your own terrace and pool, eating in is often as appealing as going out.
And in the evening?
Mambo Beach Boulevard is known on the island for its beach clubs, and some have live music or a DJ during the week. It’s a good atmosphere, and if you feel like joining in for an evening, it’s literally around the corner.
More importantly for most of our guests: it won’t keep you awake. The villa sits inside a gated resort, set back from the boulevard behind its own garden. You don’t hear it — you can only walk to it if you want to.
When is it busy?
Weekends, and especially on days when cruise ships are in port. Midweek the beach is noticeably quieter. If you’re flexible, plan your beach mornings for days without a cruise arrival — that makes more difference than the season does.
Holidays and major events
- January – February 2027 — Carnival. The island’s biggest celebration, with parades through Willemstad. The date shifts with Easter.
- April 27 — King’s Day. The Dutch connection means this is celebrated on Curaçao too.
- 29 March 2027 — Seú. Folkloric harvest parade with traditional music and dress.
- July 2 — Dia di Bandera. Flag Day, a national holiday.
- 2026 edition finished, 2027 dates in spring — Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival. Three nights at the World Trade Center in Piscadera Bay.
- October 10 — Curaçao Day.
Planning note: around Carnival and North Sea Jazz the island fills up and accommodation gets scarce. Book well ahead if you want to be here then — or pick another window if you prefer things quiet.
Farther afield
- Willemstad — the historic center with its painted facades is a UNESCO World Heritage site. About ten minutes by car.
- Jan Thiel — the other major beach destination, quieter in character.
- Cas Abao and Grote Knip — the prettiest coves are on the west side. A longer drive, but worth a day trip.
- Klein Curaçao — an uninhabited island, reachable only by boat.
